What optional auto coverage is right for you?

When you are getting your auto insurance, there are some required coverages you need to carry and others that are optional. In Portland, OR, H & R Insurance Group LLC has a team of agents dedicated to providing the highest level of customer service. We are independent agents who work for our customers, not for an insurance company.

The required auto coverage in Oregon is 25/50/20. This is strictly liability coverage. It is $25,000 for one person injured in an accident you are responsible for, $50,0000 for all the injuries in the accident, and $20,000 for property damage. This protects other drivers from you but doesn’t do much for you. If you lease a vehicle or have a car loan in which case you will need to cover the vehicle as well.

Auto Insurance Add-ons

Collision

Collison covers your vehicle in an accident where you are responsible, whether it is a two-car accident, a one-car accident, or a hit-and-run. There will be a deductible, but the vehicle should be repaired or replaced.

Comprehensive

Comprehensive coverage is non-collision coverage. It includes all kinds of other things that damage your vehicle. Flooding, high winds, hail, vandalism, and even theft are all covered. It also offers glass coverage. Comprehensive coverage also has a deductible.

Total glass

Total glass coverage replaces your windshield or other glass with no deductible.

Gap coverage

If you have a new vehicle, it might be a good idea to have this coverage which will pay the difference between what the insurance company pays you for your vehicle and what you own on your auto loan. You don’t want to end up in the red.
